The new era begins on passports!

The European Union is going to a radical change in border security. With the entry/output system (EES) to be commissioned as of October 12, 2025, the application of stamps on passports will end. Passengers will now complete the border crossings by authentication over biometric data.

Biometric record will be one -time

In the new system, a face recognition or fingerprint will be taken from passengers during entry. This biometric record will be made only once, and on the next journeys you will not be required to re -operation. Thus, both waste of time will be prevented and safety will be strengthened.

It starts at the same time in 29 countries

In the first stage, EES will be used in 29 countries, including Croatia and Hungary. The European Union aims to fully implement the system at all border gates until April 10, 2026. According to EU officials, the new application will reduce long queues frequently at the border gates. It will also minimize safety risks by allowing it to be more easily detected by illegal transitions.
